Private Reginald Claud Hore, age 31. Reginald was born in 1884 and baptised on 27 May 1885 the son of William, a Mariner, and Susan Louisa Hore, East Teignmouth. The 1901 census showed him living with his mother, a Merchant Captain's wife, and siblings at Bitton Street, he was working as a baker.
In 1911 he was living at Parson Street with his wife and daughter and still working as a baker. Reginald married Maud Evelyn Browning in 1908.
Reginald enlisted on 6 January 1915 with "A" Supply Company, Army Service Corps, army service number 41935. Posted to Aldershot on 7 February, he died of bronchitis on 11 February 1915 in Cambridge Hospital.
Buried on 15th February in Teignmouth Cemetery. Remembered on Seafront Memorial and St. James' Church Memorial Window, Teignmouth.
The Royal Army Service Corps (ASC) Supply
This was the branch of the British Army that was responsible for providing the supplies and reinforcements needed by other units who were fighting on many fronts. ASC companies used horses, motor vehicles, railways and waterways for transportation.
The ASC companies had names reflecting their roles (Supply, Remounts, Base Depots etc).
The "Supply" companies ran butcheries and bakeries, supplying the 2 million men in the field with meat and bread.

Before the war Reginald was working as a baker at 40, The Strand, Teignmouth, when he enlisted in 1915 he found himself in the Army bakery.
