Lance/Corporal Stanley Denning age 25.
Born Kingswood, Bristol, in 1892 the son of Albert and Alice Denning.
In 1901 and 1911 he is living with his parents in Kingswood and is working as a drapery warehouseman.
In 1916 Stanley married Olive Parker, daughter of George Parker, landlord of the Devon Arms Hotel, Teignmouth, Devon.
Somerset Light Infantry Cap Badge.
Formerly having served with North Somerset Yeomanry, service number 2096, he was serving with 7th Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry, service number 34320, when he was wounded.
Stanley died of his wounds at No. 4 Casualty Clearing Station on 15 August 1917. Buried in Dozingham Military Cemetery, Belgium. Remembered on Seafront Memorial and St. Michael’s Church, Teignmouth.
Grave Inscription reads: “Beloved Husband of Olive, Darling Daddy of Betty, Dear son of Mother”.
“Lnce Cpl Stanley Denning of Somerset Light Infantry son in law of Mr and Mrs George Parker of Devon Arms, KIA formerly Devon Yeomanry recently attached to Light Infantry.”
