Stoker 2nd Class Harold Brimilcombe was born on 19 October 1891 in Stokeinteignhead, Devon.
His mother was Emily Brimilcombe née Nickols (1851–1930), she was born in South Zeal, Devon.
Harold 's father was George Brimilcombe (1846–1918) who was born in Throwley, Devon. George was a farmer, the son of Sarah and Charles (an agricultural labourer). George had served a 12 year contract in the Royal Navy.
The 1911 census shows Harold's brother, Charles, already in the Navy, and his sister, Lily, as a 'School Teacher'.
Harold's Navy records of 1917 show him as five feet eight inches tall, with a 38 1/2 inch chest, light-brown eyes, grey hair and a 'fresh' complexion with no wounds, scars or tattoos.

Harold is listed as being at HMS Vivid, which is the Royal Navy Barracks/Base, in Devonport where the Royal Naval Hospital Stonehouse (Plymouth) is located, he died after being there only two days.
Harold Harry Brimilcombe died on the 19 February 1917 aged 25, he died of pneumonia.
He was buried in St Andrew's Churchyard, Stokeinteignhead.

Harry Harold beloved son of George Brimilcombe who died at Royal Naval Hospital Stonehouse, 19th Feb 1917. Aged 25 years.
Farewell dear Harry, life's battles oer. Thy loving heart shall weep no more, on Earth there's strife, in heaven rest. They miss thee most, who loved thee best.
Also of George beloved husband of emma Brimilcombe & father of the above who died 30th Dec 1918 aged 72 years.
All toil is done, all care is come and past and the tired ones rest safely home at last.
Also of the above Emma Brililcombe died Oct 3rd 1930 aged 79 years.
