Victory Medal

The Allied Victory Medal

Each of the allies issued their own bronze victory medal. Each had a similar design and wording however the ribbons were identical. That issued by British forces was designed by W. McMillan, the front depicting a winged classical figure representing victory. Eligibility for this medal was restricted and not everyone who received the British War Medal also received the Victory Medal.

Approximately 5.7 million victory medals were issued.
