Henry Albert Kelly was born in Truro, Cornwall in the 3rd quarter of 1862.
He was the son of Ann Kelly neé Lanning born c. 1825 and Thomas Kelly a Town Clerk, born in Ireland c. 1810 (formerly a quartermaster sergeant in the Marine Artillery).
On the 14th of January 1885, Henry Albert Kelly married Helen Eliza Manning at Our Lady and St Nicholas, Liverpool.

In 1911, Henry was in Greenpoint, Cape Town, South Africa, Overseas Military, Ships, and Overseas Establishments.
In 1914, Henry was a Quarter-Master, Rank: Honorary Captain, in the Army Service Corps.
On the 18th of October 1917, Henry retired from active service.
Silver War Badge
On the 4th June 1918, Henry was awarded the Silver War Badge.
The Silver War Badge was issued in the United Kingdom and the British Empire to service personnel who had been honourably discharged due to wounds or sickness from military service in World War I. The sterling silver lapel badge was intended to be worn in civilian clothes. It had been the practice of some women to present white feathers to apparently able-bodied young men who were not wearing the King's uniform.
In 1920, the electoral register shows Henry Albert and Helen Eliza living at Arranmore, Winterbourne Road, Teignmouth. They have two sons, Henry Albert and Cecil Edgar.
In 1928, the electoral register shows the family living at Arranmore, but in Buckeridge Road.
In the 3rd quarter of 1930, Helen Eliza Kelly died at Eastbourne, Sussex.
In the 1939 census, Henry Albert Kelly is in Wonford House Hospital, Wonford Road, Exeter.
In the 1st quarter of 1941, Henry Albert Kelly died in Exeter.
In loving memory of Helen Eliza Kelly wife of Major H.A. Kelly who died at Eastbourne on 20th August 1930 aged 64 years. Also of Henry Albert Kelly, Late, Major, R.A.S.C. husband of the above who died 27th January 1941 aged 79 years.

The ASC was the branch of the British Army that was responsible providing the supplies needed by other units who were fighting on many fronts.

During the Great War, using horses, motor vehicles, railways and waterways for transportation the ASC supplied millions of tons of food, fuel and other provisions to where needed.
The ASC Mechanical Transport (MT) Companies used motor-driven vehicles.
